A single pack is the cheapest way to open something. Packs are fun, but per-card they are usually the least efficient way to collect a specific card. If you're chasing one card, buying the single is almost always cheaper.
Booster boxes
A booster box (often called a booster display) holds a full case of packs from one set. It's the usual choice for people who open a lot or want to keep sealed product. Check the set name and language on the listing before you buy.
Elite Trainer Boxes
An ETB bundles booster packs with sleeves, energy cards, dice, condition markers and a storage box. It's the classic gift, and the box itself is handy for storing a deck.
Buying sealed safely
- Buy from Amazon itself or well-reviewed sellers; check the "Ships from" and "Sold by" lines.
- Be careful with very low prices on popular sets and with "repack" or "mystery" listings, which are not official sealed product.
- Inspect shrink wrap when it arrives and keep your packaging until you're sure everything is right.
